Our Vision: Our vision for United Christian Charities is to touch the community with the love of Christ. Our purpose for this establishment is to communicate the Love of Christ through our “WORKS” division of our Corporation. We have searched and identified several needs within our community beginning with Battered and Abused women. We have had, on several occasions homeless mothers come to us with child in hand with no where to go.Our hearts were enlarged as we saw this very prevalent need.
We recognize the need for shelter, food and clothing, along with childcare and job placement programs, as a vital step in the restoration of the many lives that have been broken and torn apart for one reason or another. This need can be met only by the support of the entire community and those Private Foundations that have the ability to assist in housing or in restoring broken down facilities, such as dormant hotels or Motel buildings, subsidized housing, abandoned apartment buildings and the like.
We see the need and have a desire to be proactive in meeting that need now. The lives that have been brought before us are in desperate need of our attention, and as we look past the brokenness of these lives we see the potential within each one to live a productive and fulfilling life. Please help us to help those who cannot help themselves at this time. We have a skilled and highly qualified staff that can help bring these lives into a meaningful and joyful existence.
Our Goal: Our goal is to establish a place where battered and abused women, along with their children could come and begin the process of restoration. Our project is Long Term in that we not only want to assist in the immediate need of a place to live and provide food and clothing, but also to coach each individual step by step in the advancement of a productive life style.
This includes assisting in work programs through a Temp Agency provided by United Christian Charities (UCC) or one that is affiliated with UCC. Within six months of placement at our address we would have enabled each woman to find that place of employment that would begin the journey back to wholeness. We will provide childcare during that six month period and will be involved in placing each child in the school that would best suit them. At the end of our six month program we will continue to meet with and provide continued counseling and encouragement to each person that has progressed into their consistent first phase of re-development and implementation into society.
We believe that healing begins with one opportunity to be loved and cared for by another. At UCC, we desire to be that “other”.
